Insects are animals, too. Why would you exclude certain animals from your diet for moral/ethical/health/environmental reasons and not others? I'm certain that centipede had quite a negative reaction, whether we human beings are capable of recognizing it or not, to being killed. I'm certainly not okay with an animal being frightened and physically hurt/killed just to appease local custom. If you're starving, and you want to continue living, and a bug is the absolutely only thing available to eat, and if you don't eat that bug (or that milk or piece of cheese or piece of meat, whatever) you'll die, that would be THE exception.
