Honey and beeswax = not vegan. I get that. They are animal products. But as a long time vegan, I admit that sometimes I brush over honey and over my 13 year span as a vegan, I have waffled between NO-HONEY and I DON'T CARE IF I EAT HONEY stances. And I have noticed beeswax in a few of my favorite natural makeup products as well. But if I had to choose between artificial or highly processed sweeteners or chemical-laden skincare or makeup products, I feel like honey and beeswax = truly the lesser evil. After all, SO many insects are killed in the farming of non-organic produce. So does that means to curb the insect loss, all vegans need to choose ORGANIC all the time? These type of questions flop around in my head.
I know there are many passionate opinions on this topic, but I am wondering if other vegans have this same ethical stance as I do. If you NEVER use honey or beeswax I would love to know why. And if you DO sometimes brush off honey, I would love to know your reasons for why as well. And about the organic thing, how do you feel on that thought? Thank you lovely people, I adore the respectful and real conversation we can have here.
